Trauma isn’t something you can just “get over” with a snap of your fingers.

Are you looking for trauma recovery/healing-focused meetups and support groups in the New York City area? We are also serving New Jersey residents (via telehealth online). There are many different types of trauma: surviving a natural disaster, near-death experiences, car accidents, rape, childhood sexual abuse, a physical assault, animal attack, neglect, emotional abuse, PTSD, military combat, loss of a loved one, financial loss etc. 

Although it may have happened in the past, unresolved trauma can affect your present — causing things like panic attacks, nightmares, ruminating thoughts, depression, or an inability to go on with normal routines.

Experiencing trauma can negatively impact your perception of yourself, your relationships with others, and how you see the worldoverall making healing from your trauma very difficult.

Trauma can create stress reactions that could also lead to you developing physical health problems, including long-term or chronic illnesses. This might be because trauma can affect your body as well as your mind, which can have a long-term impact on your physical health.

In addition, there may be impacts on your spiritual health where your relationship with God is affected.

When you go through a traumatic event, your mind sometimes remembers how it felt and keeps that trauma response which can be triggered later by certain things.

Trauma can challenge your ideas of how the world works and who you are as a person.

If you or someone you know has experienced some form of trauma and would like to receive support to help you heal from your trauma, Vibrant Women Wellness hosts a weekly mutual support group for adults who are healing from trauma such as mental or physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional neglect, or other ruptures to interpersonal relationships.
