Gwendolyn Taylor, LMSW

Gwendolyn Taylor is deeply committed to women’s healing, survival, and thriving. She leverages her education and spirituality to enhance a client’s well-being and restoration. Her therapeutic foundation is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), proven to be effective for clients experiencing cancer, anxiety, depression, and other stress-related issues. Additionally, Gwendolyn has a special affinity for single mothers and children and approaches family issues with evidence-based strategies. She uses her education and experience to empower women to reach their fullest potential and embrace life with strength and vigor.

Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in English from Medgar Evers College, a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Nyack College, and a master’s in social work from Hunter College. Currently she is a PhD student at Adelphi University with research interests focusing on Women, Children, and Families, and Ovarian and Breast Cancer. Additionally she holds the following credentials: Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), New York State Credentialed Prevention Counselor (CPP), a certified Christian Counselor, and licensed Chaplain through the International Chaplains Association Chaplain Corps.

Gwendolyn’s approach, informed by both her academic training and personal experiences is thoughtful and respectful. She encourages creativity, through the art of journaling, storytelling, and poetry to help clients express their feelings. Gwendolyn’s background in substance abuse in particular, has allowed her to be instrumental in helping women with addictions. Her ultimate guiding value is to help all women be their vibrant selves.
